Drink Green Tea! Get Slim!
Will drinking tea make you thin? Or is this green tea diet just another way to help thin your wallet?
I am a huge fan of green tea. I’ve been using green tea in large concentrated doses for several years now, to help fight seasonal colds and green tea is major component in maintaining my overall health.
But, despite drinking multiple cups of green tea each day, (yes, I do get a bit carried away at times) I haven’t noticed myself slimming.
So, can you really lose weight with green tea?
The Truth Behind The Green Tea Diet
To get things started I visited several green tea diet websites. All of these websites were selling the product, so, obviously, they wanted to make sure you knew how well the green tea diet works.
I then compared that with information I uncovered while searching scholarly research articles, like a 2003 article in the British Journal of Nutrition, and a 1999 Geneva study that conclusively showed that Green Tea increases both metabolism and weight loss faster than caffeine alone could
What I found
Like any good marketing idea, the makers of the various green tea diet pills on the market are taking some truth, and pressing it as far as they can.
Green tea does help you lose weight. Albeit, a small amount.
Green tea is a thermogenic. That means it can help raise your metabolism rate and let you burn calories faster – even while watching TV. Many other weight loss products use an aggressive thermogenic to induce weight loss, so Green tea is actually better in that it is a smaller thermogenic with fewer side effects.
So with Green Tea Diet pills it comes down to quantity. You need a lot of green tea to make the fat go away, and even then you should only expect a pound or two to be lost per week. The diet pills also typically have a goodly amount of caffeine and other, lesser researched herbs. All of which very well may help, but don’t have near the research behind them.
Bottom line is, to make a green tea diet plan work, you need to have plenty of ECGGs.
EG-what?
I won’t bother giving you the real name – it’s long, scientific and tells you nothing. (Besides, You can look it up on Wikipedia) But these ECGCs are the fat-burning portion of the Green Tea Diet Plan.
One cup of tea has about 20 mg of ECGC in it. You need about 125 mg of ECGC if you plan on kicking your weight.
